Interesting. Amazon.com filed comments with the FCC supporting open access for cable broadband services. I’ve been arguing since early 1999 that openness at the infrastructure layers is important to innovation in applications and content. This is the first time I’ve seen a pure Internet application company take a strong stand on this point. Yahoo! expressed interest in open access the first time the issue came before the FCC (around the time AT&T bought TCI cable), but backed away, reportedly under pressure from its content and network partners.
